The Stylist team at Just Cuts Campbelltown Macarthur Square have helped to kick off the brand's major partnership with the Leukaemia Foundation's World's Greatest Shave 2024, helping raise awareness and much-needed funds for Australian families facing blood cancer.

Stylist and salon owner of 35 years, Joanne Ashkar, is proud that two of her team members attended the 2024 campaign launch at Madame Tussauds in Sydney's Darling Harbour. Local stylists Lucinda Minords and Cheng Delacruz volunteered their time to host a shave, cut and colour activation last Thursday and Friday to help members of the public get involved with the national drive for blood cancer awareness and donations.

"We lost my father-in-law a few years ago to blood cancer, and I have experienced first-hand the support provided through the Leukemia Foundation," said Joanne. "This was just the perfect way to give back and help raise awareness for a charity that does so much for so many. Cancer affects everyone in some way, shape or form, and it's hard, it hurts, and it's completely overwhelming."

"It was wonderful to see Lucinda and Cheng take the opportunity to spend the day shaving, cutting, colouring and chatting to people at Darling Harbour, listening to their stories. It's our job as stylists to be great listeners. We get to cut and style hair, and for a brief time, people often share the most difficult times in their lives with us - and sometimes that's just all the help they need."

The Leukaemia Foundation's mission includes:

  • Offering practical and emotional support services to patients and families.
  • Funding game-changing blood cancer research.
  • Advocating for change.

Just Cuts is proud to be a major partner in supporting the Leukaemia Foundation's commitment to improving the lives of every Australian facing blood cancer through the World's Greatest Shave.

Lucinda said it was a humbling experience to join the kick-off event for World's Greatest Shave.

"I lost my Uncle to cancer," said Lucinda. "I understand how important support is to families when they're going through a really difficult period in their lives."

There are more people diagnosed with blood cancer now than ever before, with the incidence of blood cancer soaring by 47% in Australia over the past decade.

Sign-ups for the World's Greatest Shave are available for individuals and teams from anywhere in Australia at worldsgreatestshave.com or by calling 1800 500 088.

Just Cuts Campbelltown Macarthur Square is calling on the local community to join them in supporting families impacted by blood cancer. Joanne says she looks forward to styling many more shaves and cuts for Clients this March in her salon.

"By participating in the World's Greatest Shave with a shave, cut, or colour, you can build a brighter future for blood cancer patients and their families," said Joanne. "And that's Bloody Beautiful".

Since 2000, the Leukaemia Foundation has funded over 360 blood cancer research grants, representing over $86.5 million in blood cancer research funding in today's current dollar value.

Just Cuts will also be a major partner of the World's Greatest Shave in 2025.
